"Families are one of life's greatest blessings." In the Fifth Tuesday Mitch and Morrie talk about family which in my opinion is one of the most important things in the world. Family has many different meanings to everyone whether your famiy would be blood related, close friends, or someone that has guided you through the years. It is important to cherish the memories that you have with them because they don't last long you and will regret it in the end. Anytime my family helps me with something I need I realize how much they care for me and how I not only wouldn't survive without them but I wouldn't be able to live without them. Not all families are perfect but there is one thing present in all families, love.
This quote means that once you find out that your life is about to end you look at life differently. You really learn how to love. When you find out that your life will end you look at life with a new perspective. The little things in life start to matter because what if that will be the last time you look at them. For example Morrie's window didn't matter to him, now dying has given him a new perspective of the window. We should live by this quote. It will give us a better view of the world. Even though none of us are in danger of dying we could live life to the fullest and embrace the little things in life because in the end those little things in life are what brings us the most joy.
"A teacher affects eternity; he never tell where his influence stops."~Henry Adams This quote means that a teachers lessons affect the student forever. The life lessons that a techaer teaches us will stick to us forever. These life lessons make us better students and people. You can never tell when the lesson will stop maing and impact in the student. This quote relates to Mitch and Morrie because Morrie is the teacher. The things that Morrie taught is what made Mitch the person he is today. The little acts of wisdom can help make you a more well rounded person not only in the class room, but in the world.
In the third Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about regrets. Morrie is dying and has regrets. If Morrie knew he was dying maybe he would have done things differently. Morrie thinks that we don't think of regrets until you're about to die, we are wrapped up in the little things that we don't get to think about the things in our life that are missing. You need an event to drive you into thinking about the things that are missing or if we are satisfied. I think that regrets can be something that can make a little or a big impact on your life. We all do things in life that we regret, but we also do things that make us and other people proud. Your actions could take you down a road but sometimes it's not always a road you want to go down. I belive in time that you could turn all of your regrets around and start fresh. "Making a big change in life is scary but regrets are scarier."
I place extreme trust in Annie because we have known each other for a long time. We know a lot about each other and I know she is a very trustworthy person. Annie is a great friend and we trust each other. I believe that we have to have faith in trust and that we have faith in each other. Not only do I trust her with secrets, I trust her help me during times in need. Annie is very trustworthy.
In the book Tuesdays with Morrie written by Mitch Albom, Mitch comes back next Tuesday. He realizes that Morrie is important and doesn't rent a cell phone from the airport so nothing will disturb him and Morrie. The newspaper events have become worse, this brings up the topic of compassion. Mitch asks Morrie if he feels sorry about himself. Morrie says that he mourns but only in the morning. Morrie thinks that he is lucky even with the horrible disease, because some people have it worse. When it is time to transfer Morrie from the wheelchair to the recliner Mitch offers to do it. He then realizes that he doesn't have much time with Morrie and that he had to do something.
While reading the Second Tuesday I realized that some people do have it worse than me. I should be thankful for all the things I have. I connected to this because there are times in life where I felt that I had it at the worse not caring to look at the current events around me. People all around the world are wishing that they could have what I have.
We will never live in a perfect world, the happiest places are mixed with sadness and distress. This is how I view the world. I think that most of our current events contain stories of suffering and pain. I try to view it and then forget it because not all the time the story is something we want to hear. Sometimes I wonder why the event has happened and then I start to feel thankful that it never happened to me. Other times, I feel sorry that innocent people have to endure this. When I turn on the tv I see mournful events and actions of misery. I hope one day that I will view a world where bullying, poverty, riots, and fighting stops. I hope to turn the tv on and see people smiling instead of frowning, I hope to see tears of sadness stop. I hope to see a better world.
