Edward Lear's Writing Style: Childish, Gibberish, Nonsense, yet Happy and Humorous at the same time, there is no specific meaning to his poems, he also likes to bring animals and inanimate objects and see life from their point of view, they were in the form of limericks
When the Words Come Alive
Writing words on the page
Schmitty ranted with rage
In his letter
he wanted better
Than his regular wage
Schmitty set down the pen
He said "Its time to hang with Glenn"
He left with a hop
And then with a pop
The words flew off like a wren
The period said to the question mark
"You're almost as bad as the postmark"
The question mark looked sad
It said "I am really not that bad"
The journey the words will embark
Oh the words written in pencil
Looking like it was written with a stencil
The ones written in pen
Jumped off again
And attacked the words in pencil
The pencils sharpened their points
They knew the pens wouldn't disappoint
The pencils tried to fight back
But the pens were going to attack
The duller became their points
Schmitty came into the room
His face still raging with fume
And with a leap
the words went back to sleep
They words will fight later I assume
Schmitty ranted with rage
In his letter
he wanted better
Than his regular wage
Schmitty set down the pen
He said "Its time to hang with Glenn"
He left with a hop
And then with a pop
