The enemy's gate is down is mentioned several times. While this relates the perception of the physical task in the battle room, in real life there are many examples of perception changing your views. One example is science which changes the way you look at daily tasks and the world. Atoms make up everything, in fact a grain of sand that seems minuscule to us contains billions of billions of atoms. Overall perception changes everything. In some cases though, perception can cause us to lack creativity. Looking at yourself in a different perception can help you problem solve in a creative manner and improve upon yourself. This is in the sense is self perception. In the end everyone's perspectives are unique such as the concept of reality. In order to cause reform in anything you will have to look at the overall picture and not the details, but other times if you switch your perception to the smaller details it could have a major impact. The whole may be greater than the sum of its parts, but sometimes it is less. It all depends on how you look at it. A real life example would be when writing a novel. Feelings and emotions could be hard to come up with unless you look at it from both sides, then you can see the overall picture.
