CHOICE A
"I didn't want to hurt him!" Ender cries after he hurts Bonzo in the bathroom. This shows a lot about his personality. As stated in previous chapters Ender is merely a combination of Peter and Valentine. He has Peter's ruthlessness and Valentine's compassion. This makes him half and half. I truly believe that he is a good person, his actions just don't reflect that. I think that he doesn't want to cause harm in the situations of Stilson and Bonzo; both of those situations were self defense. If Ender didn't need to defend himself, he wouldn't use violent actions. In the case of both fights, Ender cries wishing that he didn't hurt the person. This is Ender's empathy coming out, which I believe is his strongest trait. These two traits combined make him a great commander. His ruthlessness makes him toughen his soldiers, yet his empathy allows him to connect with his army on a personal level. This helps them appreciate Ender and also form friendships and bonds which are crucial to a successful army. I think that if Ender wasn't a perfect mix of Valentine and Peter, he would have handled the situations differently. The outcome of this would affect the plot line and other characters tremendously.
