Communication is an extremely vital part of survival nevertheless of the situation. In the situation of a war, communication is critical for each of the sides, but sometimes the inability to communicate/understand can cause the wars. This is proof that small miscommunication can lead to major consequences. An excellent example would be the war between Italy and Ethiopia over the inadequate communication pertaining a treaty. The Ethiopians thought that the treaty stated that the Emperor could use the Italian embassy to conduct foreign affairs but when the Italians "translated" the treaty (since both spoke different languages) the Italians thought that the embassy was mandatory and must be used by the Emperor. The Italians believed that the Ethiopians had given up, yet they the Ethiopians knew that they were still an independent colony. When they figured out the mix up, the only solution was war. There are other wars where a similar event occurs such as the Cold War, The Charge of the Light Brigade, and The Battle of Trenton. While this does relate to the topic of physical communication (such as not speaking the same language) if people cannot fully be on the same page, there is also major consequence to that too. These limit the options if we cannot communicate. In this type of crisis we should work with what we have to best understand each other to our fullest capability. When we achieve that, we can work out compromises in peace without violence.
