Main Events
Thomas and Kira are sneaking out of their rooms at night to visit Jo. They find her sleeping in a bed; Kira wakes her and she cries out for her mom. Kira calms her. Jo tells them how she feels restricted in the Edifice. Although she can execute her art form, she can't do it herself. She is told what to sing. Kira feels the same way. She thinks about the joy weaving gave her, but because she is told what to weave she isn't as happy. Kira says she would trade all the luxuries in the Edifice for a life in poverty but the freedom to make her own art. Thomas doesn't complain but he does say that he gets headaches afflicted with his work in the Edifice. Thomas and Kira teach Jo how to climb her dresser and bang her wooden hairbrush on the ceiling to inform them if she needs help because they live above her room.
Feelings Toward the Chapter
The perspective of Kira's work of weaving in the Edifice has changed. It is more of a burden rather than an enjoyment. Many people as well as myself can relate to this similar concept. When we are forced to do something like a sport our parents want us to pursue we don't have fun because it wasn't our choice. Choice plays a huge factor in the enjoyment of your activity. If I was Kira I would choose the luxuries over the enjoyment, but she is very passionate about her weaving which is great too. I am glad that Kira is growing closer to Jo. Since arriving to the Edifice she has accumulated two new friends and it no longer feels lonely. I feel that the feelings of burden in weaving the robe will overtake Kira and she will rebel. I don't want that to happen to her because I feel that she will lose everything. I hope that Kira will make a good decision that will benefit her in the long run.
