Main Events
Kira and Christopher talk and he tells her his story. Christopher was never taken by the beasts. He was taken by the people of the community out of jealousy, because he was a great hunter he would soon be appointed to the Council of Guardians. One day while they were hunting Jamison hit him on the head with a club and blinded his eyes. Christopher was taken to the fields and was left to die, but a group of people came and rescued him. They took him to the broken village. In the village everyone that needs help gets it no matter what they look like on the outside. Unlike Kira's village where those in need don't get help. The broken village rescues those who are neglected and are in need of support. They are a symbol of hope. Kira feels that Matt was one of the few people that had hope and support. Christopher asks what Kira looks like and she tells him about her crippled leg, no longer ashamed of the pain. When Kira tells him about Vandara and her scar she learns that Vandara didn't get her scar from hunting beasts, she got it from tripping on a rock. Kira's perception of strength has changed.
Feelings Toward the Chapter
Kira and Christopher have some bonding time since they have been apart for so long. I wasn't completely stunned when I learned that Kira's father wasn't taken by the beasts, because the previous chapters had implied that beasts aren't real. However, I was shocked when I found out that Jamison was the one who attempted to kill him. His character personality wouldn't do that but that proves that people aren't always what the seem.
