Dor (Father Time)
Dor is the reason why humans have the fear of time running out, he created time. He is an old man who was banished to a cave because his creation of time angered God. All he hears is the voices of people on Earth begging for more time. Throughout the chapters we learn Dor's backstory and how he ended up in the cave. When he was a boy he attempted counting his breaths, assigning each finger with a sound and value. Dor was brighter and wiser than most kids his age. During his childhood, he played with a girl named Alli and an older, stronger boy named Nim. Dor develops feelings for Alli who he later marries and has three children with. When he was a teenager, Dor figured out how to create an early version of a clock using the sun, stick, and stones. A fly appears to him, stretching to create an opening and an old man with a golden staff steps out. Dor never told anyone about that day. Nim later becomes a powerful king and asks Dor to help him build a tower to the sky so they can defeat the gods. He refuses.

"And on this early page of man's story, one different child can change the world. Which is why God is watching him"
Dor is the child that changed the world by developing time in the gift. This quote refers to how children are looked down as not being able to do great things to impact they world. God was looking over children like Dor because he knows that they have this ability to create change. Another reason that God may have been looking over Dor because he knew that this change could have a negative effect. While time is a gift it also has many cons. God could be watching because he is aware of this change.
