In Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings we learn that Digger's home life isn't like Brady's or JT's. Diggers parents fight physically, so bad that the police have to come to the house or Digger and his younger siblings leave the house to escape the yelling. His homelife has a major impact on his personality which is why he is aggressive and stubborn. This might be a factor in his hate toward the DiAngelos and his actions toward them. If his parents didn't fight as much he might be more laid back and not as uptight like he is. Sometimes people act out when things aren't going well in another part of thier life. This can affect the part they are living in now. For example if someone is being bullied at school they could act out at home. Digger is going through a hard time at home and it is affecting his school life and actions. This could happen during grieving. Brady was sort of going through the same thing. He wasn't the same when Ben died because he was grieving.
