In Chapter 24 of Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings there are several connections that I can make to my own life from topics in the book.
Text to Self: An example of text to self in the book is when Brady had let something out that he meant to kept in He wasn't planning on telling his dad about the drill, but because they found the Red Kayak and the holes he decided to say something. Sometimes in life you decide to keep certain things to yourself, but a turn of events can cause you to spill out. This relates to my life because there is so many things that are constantly changing.
Text to Text: An example of text to text is when Brady is worried that his actions might hurt his friends. He thinks that because he said something, that they will be sent to reform school. I have seen several senarios in books where the main character is making a tough decsion on what they should do and who it will benefit. They have a hard decision choosing, but usually they decide on what it best for them, even if it means loosing his friends (Brady chooses to do this to).
Text to World: An example of text to world is that Brady's friends are being charged with second degree murder. There are many stories in the news saying that kids under the age of 18 are commiting crimes. Murder is one of them. JT and Digger are good examples although they are fictional characters. Most family and friends have a hard time dealing with the fact that a young person can commit a crime that costs someone's life.
